We'll discuss about the instrument called “Instruction to the technical writer” containing the important points of the technical writer's work, which are worth conveying to the customer before working on the project. I'll show all the sections of the instruction and talk about what problems they were written in response to:

• What the customer needs to know even before engaging a tech writer on a task. 
• Step-by-step plan on how to engage a techwriter on a task and a list of questions to ask at the setup meeting with the customer. 
• Recommendations for the tech writer's first steps on the team. Each of the recommendations solves some of the typical day-to-day problems.
• Workflow of a techwriter's work and its understanding by the customer.
