On classifying employers

For the past few years, we (documentat.io) have been actively studying the technical writing labor market: we conduct sociological research among technical writers and communicate extensively with companies that have a demand for documentation specialists.

Now I want to share my thoughts on how the structure of the labor market allows us to classify and rank employers offering technical writing jobs.

- Employers in the "below median" and "above median" zones: who are they and why do they pay differently?
- How the maturity of documentation processes determines a company's salary policy.
- What categories can all companies hiring technical writers be divided into, and why the career path of a competent technical writer almost certainly goes from a lower category to a higher one.
