There is a lot in common between the roles of an analyst and a technical writer. For instance, their main focus is documentation. It’s no surprise that analysis is one of the career development paths for technical writers. Moreover, when performing their duties, a technical writer can (and even should) apply business analysis tools to ensure their documentation is useful to the users. Taking the needs of the target audience into account allows for the creation of documentation on an entirely new level—going beyond simply describing processes, functionality, and technical details of a project.

In my talk, I will discuss which business analysis tools can be borrowed and effectively used by technical writers in their work.
