Automation of text quality check

  • 40 min

My name is Nikita Avilov. I am a senior technical writer at Kaspersky. I write UX texts and user documentation for B2C products and services.

We write the source text in English, translate it into Russian and continuously localise it into more than 30 languages. To avoid scattered text checks in documentation systems, CAT tools and other programs at several stages of text preparation and to reduce labour costs, we minimised manual text checks and automated everything possible.

Here's what we came up with:

  • Automation of terminology. A web service for terminology management with global search and filters.

  • Linguistic autotesting. A web service for round-the-clock text checks based on local copies of repositories.

  • Automatic screenshots. A pipeline for building applications and screenshots based on test cases.

I will tell you how we checked text quality before and what changed when we developed and implemented these tools.
