How to cross a hedgehog with a snake. Or how new requirements affect our work

  • 40 min

When developing documentation, we face a large number of requirements — these could be internal style guides and editorial policies, or external requirements from customers, regulators, and even the state. It is quite difficult to influence changes in external requirements, but they always affect the way we work, to a greater or lesser extent. And sometimes new requirements clash with 'very old' ones, and that’s when we have to find creative solutions to long-standing tasks.

In this talk, I will explain how we tackled this problem using two real case studies, one arising from new external requirements and the other from the fact that the old requirements had not been revised in a long time.
