Much like developers, technical writers face the concept of technical debt, which can significantly affect the quality and efficiency of work. In this talk, we will discuss what technical debt is, what types of technical debt exist, and how we on our team manage it during the documentation creation process.
We will look at different tasks that can be categorized as technical debt, from irrelevant documentation to non-consistent layout of documentation source files. I'll also share practical approaches to dealing with technical debt, including methods for identifying it, prioritizing tasks, and solutions.
In the final part, we will discuss how awareness and active management of technical debt can lead to better documentation quality, higher user satisfaction, and ultimately to the success of the product as a whole.
